Basic Life Support Training
Universitas Indonesia Hospital
• As an ER doctor and certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), I am given the opportunity to be a regular facilitator at Basic Life Support Training. This training is held every 3 months to facilitate nonmedical staff at the hospital about basic life support. That includes office workers, customer service staffs, securities, and janitors.
• Consisted of two sessions, this training provides both theoretical and practical knowledge about the basic medical rescue in an unconscious person. In the first 40 minutes, participants will be refreshed about the chain of survival and basic life support steps from evacuating the person to calling for help and recovery positioning.
• Then, in another 40 minutes, they will be exposed to the case and encouraged to practice the proper technique of chest compression and breathing rescue. Oftentimes, the facilitator will give an example to the mannequin first. Then, the participants will give it a try and their skills will be evaluated by the facilitator.
